Cowabunga's to join Chunky's in Manchester; opening 20,000sqft flagship play center.

MANCHESTER, NH - Cowabunga's, the indoor children's play center with locations in Hooksett, NH and North Reading, MA announce they've come to terms on a long-term lease to join Chunky's Cinema at the all new Center View Plaza, the former Lowe's building on Huse Road in Manchester.

 

Cowabunga's opened their first play center in Hooksett, NH in 2011 by local couple Kelly and Matt Pearson. The centers are filled with bounce houses and climbing structures. They specialize in walk-in play for families, and private birthday parties. Since opening, they've expanded the Hooksett store twice, opened a second in North Reading, MA, and recently installed a multi-story interactive arena called 'Tiki Blast' in their original Hooksett location. The couple also signed an agreement with Charter Realty & Development Group in Lexington, MA for future growth opportunities. This will be Cowabunga's 3rd location and will be marked as their flagship store, spanning more than 20,000 square feet; their largest in the chain of play centers.

"We are thrilled with the opportunity to join Chunky's Cinema in the redevelopment of the former Lowe's building in Manchester. We look forward to bringing our unique concept of family fun to an all new entertainment destination." Says owner Matt Pearson. The flagship center is expected to include all the favorite activities that Cowabunga's guests are accustom to, including potential new experiences, Pearson says. "What sets Cowabunga's apart is that we're always changing. Developers appreciate that when seeking out new tenants for their centers, and customers always like to walk in to something new. We'll bring something unique to town, and will evolve our center as time goes on." Cowabunga's employs 65 employees, and is expected to employ another 40 for the Manchester store.

Developers, like Charter Realty & Development's broker Angelo Pappas agree. "Cowabungas has presented Landlords with a great opportunity to bring in customer traffic to their centers. Cowabunga's price point enables families to enjoy time together without hurting their wallets. Customer's also shop the other tenants in the plaza. Kelly and Matt are work with town and city officials to help out the community they're involved with." Developers are eager to fill the void of space left by supermarkets and large chains like Lowe's. Unique concepts like Cowabunga's can transform an empty plaza in to a bustling center. It's a plan Pappas thinks is long term. "Cowabunga's is unique because they execute better than anyone else in the industry. They put their best foot forward with presentation & customer service. Kelly and Matt have grown their business to be a nationwide leader in their industry, all by doing it right here in New Hampshire."

After several project delays due to funding lapses by the landlord, the new play center is scheduled to open in Winter, 2018.
